President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Receives Credentials of New Netherlands Ambassador to Somalia

Mogadishu, September 03, 2025 – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud today welcomed Ambassador Henk Jan Bakker, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Somalia, during a ceremony held at Villa Somalia Presidential Palace.

Ambassador Bakker officially presented his Letters of Credence to the President, marking the formal beginning of his diplomatic mission in Somalia.

The meeting underscored the longstanding ties between Somalia and the Netherlands, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in areas such as governance, development, and security.

The accreditation of the new Dutch envoy is seen as a reaffirmation of the Netherlands’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations and supporting Somalia’s path toward peace and stability.
