DOHA, Qatar — September 15, 2025 — Qatar is hosting an emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Monday following Israel’s September 9 airstrike in Doha that killed several Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. The meeting gathers leaders from across the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to coordinate a collective response.
On Sunday, Arab and Muslim foreign ministers held a preparatory session in Doha, where they renewed their condemnation of the strike and called for Israel to be held accountable for what they described as a violation of international law and Qatari sovereignty.
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said the attack showed Israel “recognizes no red lines” and warned that silence in the face of such actions would invite further destabilization. He urged “real, concrete measures” to prevent escalation.
U.S. President Donald Trump, responding to reporters’ questions, cautioned Israel to be “very careful,” adding that he was “very unhappy” about the bombing in Doha. Trump praised Qatar as a “great ally” of the United States and described its Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as a “wonderful person.”
Among the leaders arriving in Doha is Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, joining counterparts from the Arab and Muslim world. The summit is expected to issue a joint resolution condemning the Israeli strike and affirming support for Qatar, though the scope of possible measures remains unclear.
The September 9 attack marked the first known Israeli strike on Gulf soil, raising concerns over regional stability and the future of mediation roles that Qatar has played in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
